Most common ways to ask someone how they are doing in Mandarin Chinese
1. 你好吗? Nǐ hǎo ma?: “How Are You?”. This one is the most common way to ask someone how are you. To ask elderly person or someone who has higher rank than you out of respect you should use 您好吗?
2.你身体好吗? Nǐ shēntǐ hǎo ma?- Meaning: “How Are You?”
3. 你最近怎么样? Nǐ zuìjìn zěnme yàng?: “How are you doing lately” or “What’s new?”
How to Respond to How Are You in Chinese? Most common ways to reply to someone are:
我很好,谢谢。 Wǒ hěn hǎo, xièxiè: I’m fine, thank you.
老样子 Lǎo yàngzi: Nothing new
一般 yībān: So-so
不错 bùcuò: Not bad
混日子吧 hùn rìzi ba: just the same old daily grind
凑合 còuhé: Not too bad
别提了 biétíle: Don't even ask
还行吧 hái xíng ba: fine
挺好的 tǐng hǎo de: Good
还可以。 Hái kěyǐ.: Not bad
不太好。Bù tài hǎo: Not very good.
不好。 Bù hǎo.: Not Good.
Also you can say:
1. 我很忙。 Wǒ hěn máng: I am very busy.
2. 我不舒服。 Wǒ bú shūfú: I am not feeling well.
3. 我病了。 Wǒ bìngle: I am sick.
